Hello Heidelberg family,
Many of you are already aware of Wayne’s retirement, and his decision to close Heidelberg Kennels. After careful deliberation, we have reached a decision regarding the official closing date.
Wednesday, May 28, 2025: This will be our last day for boarding, grooming services and play dates. All dogs will need to be picked up by 5:30pm. If you're planning to leave town, we kindly ask that you arrange for someone to step in and pick up in case of any travel delays. It is crucial that ALL dogs are picked up on this date, no exceptions.
Saturday, May 31, 2025: This will be the last day for you to come in and see us, to buy any food, supplies or medications. At 6:00 pm, we will close our doors permanently.
We do have some great news though, we have a new person who will be taking over and supplying our Professional Breeders Formula, along with another individual who will be making and supplying our Bone Complex and Total Dog Supplement. Once everything is organized and ready, we will share their information and details for placing orders.

Additionally, we will provide contact information to our trainer Laura's company, as she will be offering in-home training services.

We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of love and support we have received since sharing this update. Your messages and phone calls have touched our hearts deeply. We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you. Rest assured, we are not going anywhere just yet. We are still here, continuing to operate as we always have. However, please understand that it will take several months, possibly even a year, before everything is fully settled. Our Standard for Preservation
Heidelberg German Shepherds are bred Especially for Outstanding Predictable Temperament, Intelligence & Health. Heidelberg Shepherds are much larger in size than most German Shepherds but are very harmonious physically with Exceptionally large bone. Our Males and Females are very deep chested as specified in the Standard for the German Shepherd with the chest extending well below the elbows and a slight tuck-up to the stomach (not gutty looking like some of our competitors dogs.) Heidelberg Shepherds are Very Loving and Sweet with your family, friends, acquaintances, and especially Children, BUT are absolutely fearless when the family or other pets are endangered. One Hundred and Seventy One (171) of our shepherds have finished their Championships as of 2022. We have been in the business of breeding and showing since 1978. Our dogs are AKC registered with breeding agreements. All of our Sires are at least 2, have finished with their Championship title and have passed OFA certifications (which go back 19 plus generations).
